Fire Suppression System Details

1.Gas Based Extinguishing System

Quick Opening Differential System

Description

A 360-psi centralized system is a multiple cylinder system using welded cylinders from 67 lbs. to 590 lbs. pressurized with Nitrogen at 360 psi. For system using up to three cylinders, the first cylinder (master cylinder) is equipped with a manual level release and a solenoid electrical actuator and operates all the other (auxiliary) cylinders. All the cylinders must be filled with the same amount of agent. For centralized systems using cylinders of 190 lbs., 300 lbs., 430 lbs., and 590 lbs. the pressure in the master cylinder is directed to the pneumatic head with rapture disc mounted on top of each auxiliary cylinder valve through a line of high-pressure hoses.

CO2 System

Description

CO2 is an odorless, colorless, electrically non-conductive, non-corrosive, and non-deteriorating agent. It is normally present in the atmosphere at about 0.03% by volume.
CO2 System consists of a fixed supply of CO2 converted through a piping network and nozzles.
Total Flooding extinguishers both surface and deep-seated fires by discharging gas onto the enclosed space.
The local Application system is used for non-enclosable areas (2 or 3 Dimensional hazards):
Flammable liquid storage areas

  • Spray Booth
  • Electrical areas
  • Dust Collection
  • Engine Room
  • Machine Parts

Inert Gas System

Description

Inert Gas is a colorless, odorless, electrically nonconductive gas with a density approximately the same as air. Inert Gas is stored as pressurized gas within the cylinder assembly. When discharged into a protected space, it is clear and does not obscure vision. It leaves no residue and has zero ozone depleting potential and zero global warming potential.

2. Foam Based Extinguishing System

a) Foam Concentrate

Description

AFFF foam concentrate are designed for rapid fire knockdown by producing a thin aqueous film which helps to prevent the release of fuel vapors. The foam blanket, from which the film forming liquid drains separates oxygen from the fuel surface, extinguishes the fire and prevents re-ignition. The water content of the foam provides a cooling effect. The aqueous film is produced by the fluorocarbon surfactant reducing the surface tension of the foam solution to a point where the solution can be supported by the surface tension of the fuel. FILMPLUS provides excellent penetrating and wetting qualities when used on Class A fires. This is important when extinguishing deep-seated fires in wood, paper, rubber and other ordinary combustibles

b) Proportioning Devices

1. Balanced Pressure Propitiating Skid

Description

The system consists of a foam pump, a diaphragm operated pressure balancing valve, and all the required piping valves and fittings assembled on a common steel base. NAFFCO also offers the deluge valve and the atmospheric storage tank as an option, on the pump skid as per request. The skid units are available in different proportioner sizes ranging from 2 ½ inches to 6 inches with flow rates from 30 GPM to 4887 GPM.

2. Inline Balance Pressure Proportioner

Description

The Inline Balance Pressure Foam Proportioners are used with positive displacement foam concentrate supply pump. The system controls accurately the flow of foam concentrate into the water stream over a wide range of flow rate and pressure. The Inline Balance Pressure Foam Proportioning System is used for simultaneous operation of the multiple foam injection even with different pressures between the two injection point with a single concentrate supply line. Various sizes of inline balance pressure proportioners can be combined to suit the flow requirement of each hazard area.

3. Radio Controller

Description

Pressure Propotioner is used to produce constant preset foam solution in pressure proportioning systems. It is designed to inject automatically the correct quantity of foam concentrate into a water stream over a wide flow rates by balancing the pressure of the foam concentrate with that of the water supply.

c) Discharge Devices

1. Storage Tank Protection Discharge Device

Description

Rim Seal Foam Pourer consists mainly of Foam Maker, a windshield, and an integral deflector. The Rim Seal Foam Pourer is designed to deliver fully aspirated foam directly to the annular seal area of open top floating roof tank. The Rim Seal Foam Pourer is used for one of the most common applications of protecting tank seal in vertical liquid storage tank with internal floating roof with low expansion foam system.

2. Bund Pourer

Description

NP series Medium Expansion foam pourers are specifically designed and manufactured meeting the highest quality standards ensuring the delivery of high quality homogenized foam to the required area of protection.

3. Foam Sprinkler Head

Description

Foam Sprinkler Heads Mounted within the roof structure provides an even distribution of foam assuring fast flame knock down and fire control. They also provide cooling to the structure and protection from heat radiation.

4. High Expansion Foam Generator

Description

Mobile Foam Generator is a high expansion foam generator designed to expand foam solution into many millions of tiny stable bubbles of foam. No other source of power such as electricity or gasoline engine is needed.

5. Low Expansion Foam Branch Pipes

Description

Foam Branch pipes are air aspirated nozzles for application of foam solution. They have been developed to combine superior throw with the ability to produce stable, cohesive foam. The unique design of these branch pipes results in the required expansion of the foam ensures proper mixing in the tube & at the same time provides higher velocity to the emerging foam stream, giving excellent range.

6. Medium Expansion Foam Branch Pipes

Description

Foam Maker is used for one of the most common applications of protecting tank seal in vertical liquid storage tank with internal floating roof with low expansion foam system. The application of aspirated foam is on the basis of the risk comprising the area in the annular ring between the rim of the floating roof and the tank shell. The Foam system design guidelines generally used are in accordance with NFPA11 standard. The Foam Makers are defined by NFPA 11 as Type II discharge outlets for delivering the low expansion aspirated foam to the seal. The Foam Makers are widely used with the Inline Foam Inductor, Balance Pressure Foam Proportioning system, Bladder Tank system and Foam tenders.

d) Fixed CAF System

Description

THE CAFS 400 Gallons / 500 Gallons Compressed Air Foam Fire Suppression System uses compressed air to propel firefighting foam. Thousands of tight radius bubbles quickly cool and smother a fire by providing a thick vapor-sealing blanket of foam that virtually eliminates re-ignition. The foam will adhere to horizontal and vertical surfaces. This system allows the operator to seal a fuel spill and flammable vapors with foam thus reducing or eliminating a potential fire. The system will discharge the foam approximately 25-30 meters. in a no wind condition allowing firefighting personnel without protective clothing to avoid thermal injuries. Trained personnel can accomplish all maintenance except the hydrostatic pressure testing of the Air Cylinders, Premix Tank, and the Discharge Hose.

3.Powder-based Extinguishing System

Description

The system is capable of automatic detection and when a fire is detected, the system is actuated either manually or automatically, operating the Cartridge cylinder valve. This operation pressurizes and fluidizes the dry chemical extinguishing agent in the tank, ruptures the burst disc when the required pressure is reached, and propels the dry chemical through network of distribution hose line system (manually operated) or through fixed nozzles and into the protected areas, suppressing the fire.

b) Pre Engineered Kitchen Suppression System

Description

The Kitchen Fire Suppression System Kit for Kitchen is a pre-engineered, wet chemical, indirect low-pressure system with a fixed nozzle agent distribution network. It extinguishes cooking fires caused by grease or grease-laden vapors (class F or class K fire). It does not require electrical power or connection to either domestic water supply or fire sprinkler supply lines. In case of fire, the system actuates automatically or by manual release. The Kitchen Fire Suppression System Kit for Kitchen is designed for the fire protection during cooking operations. Cooking operations are defined as kitchens that have Cooking appliances that produce grease and grease-laden vapors. Cooking appliances include flat grills, char broilers, woks, cooking plates and deep fat fryers. Three (3),Five (5) and Ten (10) nozzles are included in the Kitchen Fire Suppression System Kit for Kitchen. One nozzle protects an area of approximately 1m2 and extinguishes for example a fire caused by a burning 45 liter deep fat fryer. We recommend installing one (1) nozzle for the protection of the hood, one nozzle for the protection of plenum and other nozzles for the protection of cooking appliances that produce grease and grease-laden vapors as applicable depending on size of the kitchen equipment’s.
